Upcoming Parent Education Program of Events January 24th, 2018 Janna Said, local businesswoman, joins Kristi Marsh, founder of non-toxic living group, The Savvy Women’s Alliance, and author of award-winning book, Little Changes to discuss non-toxic choices for our classrooms and homes. 7pm Robert Adams Middle School Auditorium This talk is product independent and focuses on the benefits of understanding alternative choices that are available in the mainstream. Kristi Marsh, speaker, and award-winning author of Little Changes, believes deeply that everyone has the right to understand what is happening in their own homes. Kristi's journey started with a stage three breast cancer tumour that turned her own mainstream lifestyle upside down. She began educating herself on products that she used on her body, put in her body and the environment she lived in. Janna Said, Local businesswoman and mom of two, complements Kristi by offering some startling statistics on US legal requirements for everyday products to come to market, and practical tips on where to find alternatives to the familiar brands in local supermarkets and outlets. January 31st, 2018 Joani Geltman, Child Development and Parenting expert, discusses sexting and social networking, 7pm Holliston High School Auditorium The smartphone addict, eyes fixed on the tiny screen, doing…what? Joani Geltman, Child Development and Parenting expert, will discuss the issue of sexting and social networking with a view to bullying and how digital media gives rise to different mediums for bullies to reach their targets. What's a parent to do? 6. School Closings/Snow Days Parents, please be aware that many local news organizations have discontinued text notifications for school closings. Notifications will continue to be posted on all local news stations and their websites, as well as on the Holliston Public Schools website. Please utilize one of those sources for information on school closings in Holliston. A. Canceling School – When the conditions of the roads and access to schools are judged to be unsafe for bus travel, schools are canceled. PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE THE POLICE OR FIRE DEPARTMENT ABOUT SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS as such calls tie up the telephone lines needed for emergency calls.
School will be in session, if possible. You as a parent should feel free to keep your child home if you do not agree with the decision to hold classes.
B. Delayed Opening – On days when road conditions in the early morning make driving hazardous, but school could be held by opening one or two hours later, the delayed opening procedure will be used. Bus pick-ups will occur one or two hours later than ordinarily scheduled. School will be dismissed at the regular times.
