Miller's Marathon Fitness Challenge Begins on Monday, March 6th! Look below for details on this fun event to do at home!

Today during the Student SHINE Committee Meeting we focused on the "I" in SHINE, independence.  When students are independent, they take care of themselves.  Wendy Krauss, Miller School's Occupational Therapist, described the upcoming Marathon Fitness Challenge (an opportunity for srudents to demonstrate independence by staying physically fit).  This challenge encourages students to run or walk at home over the course of a 12 week period, beginning on Monday, March 6, 2017.

The key pieces to know:
  • It's a 12-week walking/running program
  • Begins Monday, March 6th and ends May 26th
  • Students can run up to 2 miles a day, for a total of 10 miles per week
  • Students will go to the school website to log their weekly distance on a google form (this will be up on the site by the middle of next week).
Student SHINE representatives will be working with their classroom teachers to share information about the Marathon Fitness Challenge with their classmates. Below is a video from today's SHINE meeting that explains the Marathon Fitness Challenge in detail:
