This year we have been working across the district to implement consistent practices in all of our schools related to attendance. In a recent attendance task force meeting we identified a need to increase communication to families related to students who are coming to school tardy. A student is considered tardy when they arrive after the second bell, which rings at 7:30am. We will be notifying families when students arrive between 7:31am and 8:00am with an automated phone call. Our goal is to increase communication to increase awareness and decrease the late arrivals. We will share broad student attendance data related to this goal after a few weeks of implementation. Thank you for your continued support.
We're running a theater workshop for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders this spring to foster interest for theater in younger students before middle school. High school juniors and members of theater, Ally Forbes, Maddie Pierce, and I (Adele Boggess) are running it with help from Mrs. Peters, our supervising adult. It will take place on Fridays afterschool from 3:30-4:30 on the dates May 23rd, May 30th, June 6th and June 13th.
Spots are limited to 30 participants. The deadline to sign up is May 9th!”
Appreciation means noticing and being thankful for the people, things, and moments that bring us joy or help us grow. When we show appreciation, we’re recognizing what’s good in our lives and in others.
We will be asking students and staff to think about the following questions this month:
What are some things you appreciate about yourself? Maybe you’re a good friend, a great problem-solver, or someone who keeps trying even when things are hard.
What do you appreciate about the people around you—your classmates, teachers, or family? How can you show them you’re thankful?
As a school we will be celebrating/acknowledging the following days of appreciation together:
4/21-25: National Administrative and After-School Professionals Appreciation Week
4/23: School Bus Drivers’ Day
4/23: Administrative Professionals Day
Occupational Therapist Month
