As we move into May, our school-wide theme is Respectful. This connects deeply to our Miller motto, “Welcome In. Expect Greatness.” When we show respect to ourselves and to others, we help create a truly welcoming environment—one where every student and adult feels valued, supported, and able to show their greatness. Respect means listening, including others, appreciating differences, and taking care of our community and ourselves.
Throughout the month, students will explore what it means to be respectful during our RULER lessons. They will build skills around recognizing feelings, showing empathy, and making thoughtful choices in their words and actions. These conversations help strengthen our positive school culture and support every learner.
May is also a time to honor and learn from the diverse communities that make up our world. We will be recognizing:
Asian Pacific Heritage Month
Haitian Heritage Month
Jewish American Heritage Month

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by talking about what respect looks like in everyday moments—at school, at home, and in the community. Together, we can continue to build a Miller School where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and inspired to be their very best.
