Miller School Counseling

Mission Statement

In Holliston we seek to  collaboratively create and sustain Safe and Supportive Schools. A Safe and Supportive school is the culmination of what it would look like for us to truly foster a safe, positive, healthy and inclusive whole-school learning environment that: enables students to develop positive relationships with adults and peers, regulate their emotions and behavior, achieve academic and non-academic success in school and maintain physical and psychological health and well-being for all students, staff, and the greater Holliston community!

Your child’s guidance counselor can address a multitude of school-based topics, such as social skills; anxiety and possible school phobia or refusal; grief and loss; peer conflict resolution; and self-esteem. The role of the guidance counselor is very fluid and changes based on the level of need of the students, the climate of the school building, and if or when a crisis emerges.

Your child may be seen on an individual basis, in a small group, or in the classroom in a whole group lesson. Guidance services are considered a regular education support and therefore any child can access them at any time. The guidance counselors frequently consult with classroom teachers as well as other support staff and can help to facilitate a relationship with resources within the community.
